To Whom It May Concern at Ofcom,
As an Iranian pilot who has circumnavigated the globe in a single-engine aircraft, I write to address a significant misrepresentation of Iran in the media. This letter is not merely a request but a firm demand for change in the portrayal of my homeland, Iran.
In the media coverage under your jurisdiction, there is a disturbing trend of conflating the actions and policies of the “Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran” with the “People of Iran.” This conflation does a grave disservice to the rich cultural history and integrity of Iran. As I have often stated, “Iran is older than history, Islam is too immature to be a prefix for Iran.” Down with the Islamic Regime of Iran. This narrative distorts the image of Iran and unfairly impacts its people.
I demand that Ofcom instructs its media outlets to clearly differentiate between the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the People of Iran in their reporting. Failing to do so perpetuates a misrepresentation that affects not only Iran‘s global image but also the dignity of its people.
I reserve the right to pursue legal actions if this essential distinction continues to be ignored in media coverage. The media holds the responsibility to portray each nation accurately, and this is particularly crucial for a nation with a history as rich and complex as Iran‘s.
I look forward to your prompt response and action on this critical matter.
Respectfully,
Arshid Moti
Earth Rounder Pilot, dedicated to liberating Iran from the grip of the Islamic Regime.
